Persija Jakarta made it two wins from two in the 2014 Indonesia Super League campaign after claiming a 2-0 win over Semen Padang on Saturday.
Following a goalless first half at the Gelora Bung Karno, Persija took the lead on the hour mark thanks to Rachmat Afandi’s opener, before ex-Croatia international Ivan Bosnjak secured the three points by adding a second from the spot in the 76th minute.
To add to Padang’s misery, they ended the game with ten men after South Korean midfielder Yoo Hyun-goo received his marching orders in injury-time.
The win, coupled with their 2-1 win over Barito Putera a week ago, saw Persija climb to second on the Western table on six points, behind leaders Arema Cronus on goal difference.
Over in the Eastern zone, Persiram Raja Ampat claimed their first win of the campaign after beating Persiba Bantul 1-0 at the Stadium Sultan Agung.
The only goal of the game came in the 60th minute when George Parfait Mbida-Messi found the back of the net to hand Persiram the victory, to send them up to fourth in the standings.
