HAGL rise to fourth in V.League 1; Binh Duong claim first win

Hoang Anh Gia Lai moved up to fourth in the V.League 1 on Sunday after claiming a thrilling 5-3 win over QNK Quang Nam at the Tam Ky Stadium.

Looking to build on the previous week’s 3-1 win over Song Lam Nghe An, HAGL took the lead after just two minutes thanks to a strike from Duong Van Pho, who added a second six minutes after the half-hour mark.

The contest looked to be over when Timothy Anjembe made it 3-0 two minutes after halftime, but Dinh Thanh Trung handed Quang Nam a lifeline when he pulled one back in the 58th minute.

Still, the visitors remained in control and restored their three-goal lead three minutes later thanks to a Le Hoang Thien strike, before Bui Tran Vu netted their fifth in the 67th minute.

To their credit, the hosts refused to give in and hit back again in the 83rd minute through a David Annas strike before Yahaya Adamu reduced the deficit further a minute from time, although it proved to be too little too late as HAGL held on for the three points.

Over at the Go Dau Stadium, Becamex Binh Duong claimed their first win of the season in some style after cruising to a 4-1 win over Dong Nai.

Abass Chiekh Dieng fired the hosts ahead a minute before the break, before Abdullahi Suleimani doubled their tally in the 52nd minute with his first goal of the campaign.

Four minutes later, Nguyen Trong Hoang added a third for Binh Duong, and the result was put beyond doubt when Dieng grabbed his second of the game in the 72nd minute.

Dong Nai did manage to pull one back in injury-time when Nguyen Duc Thien found the back of the net, but it was a mere consolation as they continued their winless start to 2014.

Finally, XM The Vissai Ninh Binh left it late to force a 2-2 draw against Dong Tam Long An at the Ninh Binh Stadium.

Brazilian defender Laerte popped up to hand the visitors the lead in the 13th minute, only for Le Van Thang to equalise four minutes before the half-hour mark.

Long An edged ahead once more when Phan Van Tai Em notched his third goal of the campaign but just when it looked they were headed for victory, Van Thang struck deep into injury-time to earn Ninh Binh a valuable point.
