V.League 1 leaders Thanh Hoa maintain unbeaten start

Thanh Hoa continued their unbeaten start to the 2014 V.League 1 campaign as they moved five points clear at the top with a 3-1 win over defending champions Ha Noi T&T.

It was Thanh Hoa who took the lead in Friday’s top-of-the-table clash at the Thanh Hoa Stadium; Danny van Bakel opening the scoring after ten minutes before Sunday Emmanuel added a second in the 57th minute.

The result was then put beyond doubt in the 86th minute when Nastja Ceh made it 3-0 from the spot, although Ha Noi did manage a consolation two minutes later through a Hoang Vu Samson strike.

Ha Noi’s defeat also allowed Than Quang Ninh to climb above them into second place following a 3-2 home win over Hoang Anh Gia Lai.

Although Nguyen Hai Huy scored to help the hosts draw first blood in the 33rd minute, HAGL equalised two minutes later when Timothy Anjembe racked up his seventh goal of the campaign, before Nguyen Hoang Helio netted eight minutes after the break to put them ahead.

But five minutes after the hour mark, Hai Huy scored his second of the evening to pull Quang Ninh level, before Uche Iheruome struck the winner in the 73rd minute.

Over at the An Giang Stadium, bottom side Hung Vuong An Giang fell to a third straight defeat after being beaten 4-1 by Becamex Binh Duong.

Goals from Moses Oloya and Nguyen Trong Hoang inside the opening 20 minutes put the visitors firmly in control, before Abass Cheikh Dieng added a third in the 82nd minute.

Trinh Quang Vinh then got in on the act to make it 4-0 in injury-time, although Dinh Hoang Max managed to grab a consolation for An Giang right at the death.

Finally, SHB Da Nang moved two spots up to fourth following a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Song Lam Nghe An at the Chi Lang Stadium.

Following a goalless first half, Nguyen Vu Phong fired the hosts into the lead in the 48th minute and, just three minutes later, Phan Thanh Hung doubled their tally.

Edouard Ndjodo pulled one back for SLNA in the 77th minute but they were just unable to find the equaliser, as Da Nang held out for maximum points.
