Persela Lamongan bounced back from last week’s 5-1 loss to Gresik United on Thursday after claiming a 3-1 win over PSM Makassar in the Eastern zone of the Indonesia Super League.
Slovakian defender Roman Golian got them on their way at the Surajaya Stadium when he opened the scoring after 11 minutes, before Arif Arianto doubled their lead two minutes after the half-hour mark.
The result was put beyond doubt in the 67th minute when Zaenal Arifin added a third, although PSM did grab a consolation eight minutes from time through a Ponaryo Astaman effort.
The victory – Persela’s second of the new campaign – saw them climb up to fourth on the table, just three points behind joint-leaders Mitra Kukar and Persebaya Surabaya.
Over in the Western zone, Persik Kediri’s hunt for their first victory continues after they played out a 1-1 draw with Persita Tangerang at the Singa Perbangsa Stadium.
Persik were on track to picking up maximum points for the first time in 2014 after Ngon Mamoun fired them in front in the 22nd minute.
However, Japanese striker Kenji Adachihara equalised two minutes before the hour mark to earn Persita a share of the spoils.
Still, the result was enough to take Persik off the foot of the table as they moved above Barito Putera and Persijap Jepara into ninth place.
