XM The Vissai Ninh Binh’s poor start to the 2014 V.League 1 campaign continued on Friday as they were beaten 3-1 by QNK Quang Nam at the Tam Ky Stadium.
It was Vissai who had taken the lead after 17 minutes when Tran Manh Dung opened the scoring, but the hosts responded six minutes after the hour mark after Henry Kisekka found the equaliser.
Quang Nam then edged ahead in the 80th minute thanks to a goal from Rwanda international Jonas Nahimana, before Dinh Thanh Trung made sure of the three points when he added a third in injury-time.
The win saw Quang Nam climb six spots up to third on the table, while their opponents remain tenth.
Vissai will now be looking to bounce back on Wednesday when they entertain Myanmar’s Yangon United in their AFC Cup Group G clash at the Ninh Binh Stadium.
However, while they did manage to pick up a win in their opening AFC Cup game – beating South China of Hong Kong 3-1 – they have good reason to be wary of a Yangon side who claimed a 5-3 victory over Malaysia Super League giants Kelantan.
V.League action resumes next Saturday when second-placed Than Quang Ninh entertain Hai Phong, while Dong Nai visit fellow strugglers Dong Tam Long An.
