Persib Bandung climbed up to second place in the Western zone of the Indonesia Super League on Sunday after claiming a 2-0 win at struggling Barito Putera.
The visitors took the lead at the Demang Lehman Stadium in the 22nd minute when Djibril Coulibaly opened the scoring, before the Malian striker added a second two minutes after the hour mark to wrap up the three points.
The win was enough to help Persib overtake Pelita Bandung Raya into second on the table, although they remain two points behind leaders Arema Cronus, who have a game in hand.
Persija Jakarta continued their unbeaten start to the campaign after striking right at the death to force a 1-1 draw against Sriwijaya at the Gelora Bung Karno.
After both sides struggled to find the breakthrough for most of the game, it looked as though the visitors had snatched all three points when Lancine Kone fired them in front ten minutes from time.
But in injury-time, Rachmat Afandi found the back of the net to earn Persija a share of the spoils and keep alive their unbeaten record.
Over at the Haji Agus Salim Stadium, Persita Tangerang ended a two-game winless streak with a 1-0 triumph over Semen Padang despite finishing the match with ten men.
Japanese striker Kenji Adachihara struck his third goal in four games to put the visitors ahead a minute before the half-hour mark, but they were dealt a real blow when they had defender Gusripen Efendi sent off in the 61st minute.
Nonetheless, Padang were unable to make the most of their numerical advantage as Persita held out for maximum points.
Finally, Sunday’s only game in the Eastern zone saw Persiba Balikpapan and Persebaya Surabaya play out a 0-0 draw at the Persiba Stadium; a result which sent the latter top of the table by a point.
