Thanh Hoa move eight clear in V.League; SLNA up to third

Thanh Hoa stretched their lead at the top of the V.League 1 to eight points on Saturday after a 2-0 win over QNK Quang Nam at the Thanh Hoa Stadium.

The league leaders took the lead on the stroke of halftime when Le Van Tan found the back of the net, before Nastja Ceh added a second four minutes from time to make sure of the three points.

The result allowed Thanh Hoa to edge further ahead at the top of the table, although second-placed Than Quang Ninh can close the gap back to five points with victory over defending champions Ha Noi T&T on Sunday.

Song Lam Nghe An climbed five spots up to third after beating Hai Phong 3-1 at the Vinh Stadium to claim their second win in a row.

After Paul Emile Biyaga had fired them ahead in the 21st minute, Vietnam international Le Cong Vinh struck 13 minutes before time to double their tally.

Moreira then scored four minutes later to seal the win, although Hai Phong did manage a consolation in injury-time when Zimbabwe international Justice Majabvi found the back of the net.

Finally, SHB Da Nang got back to winning ways with a 2-1 win over bottom side Hung Vuong An Giang, who are still looking for their first victory eight matches into the campaign.

Huynh Quoc Anh broke the deadlock for Da Nang at the An Giang Stadium after 13 minutes, only for Felix Ajala to equalise three minutes before the half-hour mark.

Nonetheless, the visitors always looked the more dangerous of the two sides and eventually found the winner in the 76th minute when Nguyen Vu Phong netted his second goal of the season.
