Three in a row for Dong Nai; HAGL held again

Dong Nai recorded a third straight win in the V.League 1 on Saturday after beating nine-man QNK Quang Nam 5-1 at the Dong Nai Stadium.

The visitors had initially taken a ninth-minute lead thanks to Henry Kisekka’s opener, but were dealt a blow when Le Hai Anh was sent off just before halftime for a second bookable offence.

Dong Nai’s evening went from bad to worse in the 74th minute when they were reduced to nine men after Chi Huynh was shown a straight red and a minute later, the hosts made it 3-1 thanks to a Dink Kien Trung strike.

From then on, there was always only ever going to be one winner and Dong Nai really made the most of their numerical superiority; Ngo Duc Thang adding a fourth in the 85th minute before Tran Huu Thang rounded off the scoring in injury-time.

In Saturday’s other game in the V.League 1, Hoang Anh Gia Lai went a third game without victory after playing out a 1-1 draw with Hai Phong at the Lach Tray Stadium.

Hai Phong then had Dinh Tien Thanh sent off in the 70th minute when he was shown a second yellow, but were able to hold out for a valuable point.
