Warriors FC equalised two minutes from time to force a 1-1 draw with Tanjong Pagar United in the S.League on Thursday and deny their opponents a third win of the season.
The Jaguars had taken the lead at the Queenstown Stadium after 13 minutes when Sebastien Etiemble nodded home a freekick from Masrezwan Masturi.
However, both sides were reduced to ten men in the 68th minute after Warriors midfielder Shi Jiayi and Tanjong Pagar counterpart Asraf Rashid were sent off following a heated confrontation.
But just when it looked as though they would be falling to a second defeat of the season, the Warriors pulled level in the 88th minute after Miroslav Pejic cut in from the right and fired past Aurelien Herisson into the bottom corner to force the draw.
Over at the Jalan Besar Stadium, Albirex Niigata (S) were victorious for the second game running after claiming a 2-1 win over Courts Young Lions, who are still looking for their first win of the season.
The White Swans broke the deadlock in the 18th minute after opposition winger Sherif El-Masri, in a bid to intercept Kento Nagasaki’s dangerous delivery, proceeded to poke the ball past his own goalkeeper Syazwan Buhari.
Two minutes after the hour mark, it was 2-0 when Kazuki Sakamoto beat the offside trap to race onto Kazuya Okazaki’s visionary through-ball, before going past Syazwan Buhari and firing into the unguarded net.
Young Lions did manage to pull one back in the 87th minute when Jordan Webb met Muhaymin Salim’s right-wing cross with a thumping header past Kenjiro Ogino, but Albirex ultimately held out for the three points.
