Ha Noi T&T had to come from behind twice at the Long Xuyen Stadium to claim a thrilling 4-3 win over bottom side Hung Vuong An Giang in the V.League 1 on Monday.
Despite the fact they were yet to record a victory all season long, An Giang started the brighter of the two sides and broke the deadlock after five minutes through Felix Ajala’s opener.
Hoang Vu Samson managed to equalise for Ha Noi in the 12th minute but three minutes before the half-hour mark, Dinh Hoang Max struck to restore the hosts’ advantage.
An Giang managed to hold on to their lead at the break but seven minutes into the second half, the visitors pulled level once more thanks to Nguyen Van Quyet’s fifth league goal of the season.
Samson then fired Ha Noi ahead for the first time in the match in the 69th minute, before putting them further in front when he completed his hat-trick five minutes from time to make it 4-2.
It was An Giang’s turn to respond and they managed to reduce the deficit a minute later through a Vu Trong Thong strike, although their opponents manage to hold out for the win.
The result – Ha Noi’s sixth win of the campaign – was enough to take them up to fourth on the table, five points behind leaders Becamex Binh Duong with three games in hand.
Meanwhile, An Giang remain rooted to the bottom of the table with just two points from their opening 11 games, although their display on Monday will have given manager Nhan Thien Nhan plenty to be positive about.
