Green Archers back to winning ways; Pasargad lose again

Green Archers United got back to winning ways in the United Football League on Tuesday after claiming a 4-2 win over Philippine Army GTI at the Emperador Stadium.

Army took the lead in the 25th minute through a John Cain effort, but Robert Waly Lopez Mendy netted the equaliser six minutes before halftime.

Lopez Mendy then scored again five minutes into the second half to put the Archers ahead, but their opponents managed to muster a response of their own through a penalty from Jeon Shin-seok in the 68th minute.

But in the 74th minute, Shag Shapay Johnson scored his first goal of the season to restore Green Archers’ lead, and they went on to wrap up the three points five minutes from time when Christian Pasilan struck with an acrobatic volley.

In Tuesday’s earlier game, Pasargad fell to their 13th defeat of the season after losing 1-0 to Pachanga Diliman.

The only goal of the game came in the 18th minute through a Sim Hong-bo strike but Pasargad wasted a glorious chance to force a draw in injury-time; Hossein Doustdar failing to convert a penalty as Pachanga went on to claim the win.
