Persela Lamongan moved level on points with Eastern zone leaders Mitra Kukar in the Indonesia Super League on Tuesday after beating Persiram Raja Ampat 2-1.
Defender Zaenal Arifin got Persela on their way at the Surajaya Stadium when he netted his second goal of the campaign in the 37th minute, before Srdan Lopicic made it 2-0 four minutes later.
Persiram managed to pull one back on the stroke of halftime through an Errol Simunapendi effort but they were unable to find the equaliser in the second half, as the hosts held on for all three points.
Over at the Mandala Stadium, Persipura Jayapura continued their unbeaten start to the campaign as they claimed a 2-1 win over Persebaya Surabaya.
The hosts got off to a dream start when Lukas Mandowen fired them ahead inside the opening minute, but Emmanuel Kenmogne equalised for Persebaya in the 12th minute.
Nonetheless, the contest was decided 13 minutes from time when Ambrizal Ammar, under pressure from Izaac Wanggai, turned Boaz Solossa’s freekick into his own net to hand Persipura the win.
The result was enough to take the Black Pearls up to third on the table, a point behind Mitra and Persela with a game in hand.
