Four-goal Velez inspires Warriors to Albirex win

Nicolas Velez scored an astounding four goals on Wednesday to help Warriors FC to a 4-0 win over Albirex Niigata (S) in the S.League.

The Argentine opened the scoring in the 16th minute after latching onto a brilliant threaded pass by Miroslav Pejic, and making no mistake in lashing his shot past Kenjiro Ogino.

Three minutes before the hour mark, Pejic was the provider was again as his neat layoff on the edge of the box found Velez, who proceeded to unleash an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

Velez then completed his hat-trick two minutes from time to wrap up the three points when he beat the offside trap and raced onto Daniel Bennett’s long ball, before coolly firing in between Ogino’s legs to complete his hat-trick.

But the Warriors were not done yet and added a fourth in injury-time as Pejic was again weighed in with a brilliant assist, waltzing through the Albirex defence and faking a shot when confronted by Ogino before unselfishly squaring the ball for Velez to smash into the unguarded net.
