Johor Darul Ta’zim made it three wins in a row in the Malaysia Super League after beating T-Team 2-1 at the Larkin Stadium on Friday evening.
It was T-Team who broke the deadlock in the 27th minute when debutant Leandro dos Santos beat the offside trap and raced through on goal, before coolly slotting past Izham Tarmizi into the bottom corner.
But the hosts responded just four minutes later when Amri Yahyah did brilliantly to burst through the middle and into the box before chipping the back to the back post, where Luciano Figueroa stooped low to head into the back of the net.
And in injury-time, Darul Ta’zim went on to claim all three points after substitute Pablo Aimar found space on the edge of the area and floated a perfect ball to Luciano Figueroa, who made no mistake in heading home his second of the evening.
The result was enough to tentatively take JDT up to second on the table, level on points with leaders Pahang who have a game in hand.
Over at the Sultan Mohammad IV Stadium, Kelantan fell to a second straight defeat after being beaten 1-0 by Sarawak.
Having fallen to a crushing 4-0 defeat to Sime Darby on Tuesday, the Red Warriors were looking for a change in fortunes following the dismissal of coach Steve Darby.
However, it was the visitors who claimed all three points after a costly error from Kelantan centre-back Obinna Nwaneri, whose misplaced back-header in the 52nd minute allowed Ryan Griffiths to race through and lob Khairul Fahmi for the winner.
