Persipura back to winning ways; Persebaya up to second

Persipura Jayapura ended a three-game winless streak in all competition on Friday after claiming a 5-2 win over Persiba Bantul in the Indonesia Super League Eastern zone.

Boaz Solossa fired Persipura ahead at the Sultan Agung Stadium after ten minutes, but Emile Mbamba found the back of the net eight minutes before halftime.

The visitors reclaimed the lead on the stroke of halftime when Solossa doubled his tally and Persiba received a blow in the 52nd minute when Mbamba was sent off for a second bookable offence, but they managed to pull one back a minute later thanks to a penalty Claude Parfait Ngon A Djam penalty.

However, Solossa then completed his hat-trick two minutes before the hour mark to make it 3-2, and Ian Kabes made sure of the three points in the 83rd minute.

And four minutes later, the rout was completed when Eddie Boakay netted his first goal of the campaign to cap off a fine display from his side.

In Friday’s other game, Persebaya Surabaya moved up to second spot after beating PSM Makassar 2-0 at the Gelora Bung Tomo.

Persebaya took the lead in the 17th minute when Fandi Utomo opened the scoring, before Emmanuel Kenmogne added a second three minutes after the break to wrap up maximum points.
