Global march on by claiming seven-point lead over Loyola

Global took another step towards winning the United Football League on Saturday after claiming a 4-1 win over bottom side Pasargad at the Emperador Stadium.

But just three minutes later, Izzeldin Elhabbib scored the put Global back in front, and they stretched their lead even further when Yu Hoshide got in on the act in the 57th minute after a neat pass from Angel Guirado.

And six minutes after the hour mark, the three points were in the bag when Mark Hartmann netted his 22nd goal of the campaign to seal a comprehensive win for his side.

The result allowed Global to move seven points clear at the top of the table, after second-placed Loyola Meralco Sparks were held to a 1-1 draw by Green Archers United in Saturday’s earlier game.

The Sparks had edged ahead as early as the fifth minute when Graham Caygill netted with a simple tap-in, but Green Archers pulled level two minutes before halftime thanks to a penalty from Robert Waly Lopez Mendy, which ultimately proved enough for a share of the spoils.
