Ha Noi T&T moved six points behind V.League 1 joint-leaders Becamex Binh Duong and Thanh Hoa with three games in hand after beating Hung Vuong An Giang 4-1 on Sunday.
It was An Giang who took the lead at the Hang Day Stadium after 12 minutes when Patiyo Tambwe netted his first goal for the club since joining from XM The Vissai Ninh Binh, but Hoang Vu Samson equalised for the hosts eight minutes before halftime.
Ha Noi then took the lead for the first time when Pham Thanh Luong struck in the 71st minute and Cao Sy Cuong doubled their advantage seven minutes later, before Samson grabbed his second of the evening – and 14th of the campaign – to wrap up the three points for his side.
Meanwhile, SHB Da Nang climbed up to fourth on the table despite being held to a 0-0 draw by QNK Quang Nam at the Chi Lang Stadium.
In Sunday’s final game, Song Lam Nghe An snapped a four-game winless run by recording a 2-1 victory over Dong Tam Long An at the Long An Stadium.
Vietnam international Le Cong Vinh had fired the visitors into a 34th-minute lead, before Nguyen Hong Viet added a second on the stroke of halftime.
Long An did managed to pull one back when Ganiyu Oseni netted a minute before the hour mark but it proved to be a mere consolation, as SLNA held out for a much-needed triumph.
