Woodlands Wellington ended a four-game winless run in the S.League on Wednesday after claiming a 2-1 win over Balestier Khalsa at the Toa Payoh Stadium.
The Rams took the lead eight minutes before halftime when Fadhil Noh opened his account for the season; nodding home from close range after Chang Jo-yoon had nodded a corner back into the danger zone at the far post.
Chang then grabbed a goal of his own five minutes after the hour mark to double the visitors lead after he ran onto Moon Soon-ho’s through-pass, and proceeded to send a cheeky lob over the onrushing Zaiful Nizam.
Balestier did manage to pull one back when Goran Ljubojevic scored with a towering header in the 73rd minute, but it proved to be a mere consolation as Woodlands held out to claim all three points.
Over at the Hougang Stadium, Tanjong Pagar United went an eighth game without victory after being held to a 1-1 draw by Hougang United.
The Jaguars had edged ahead in the 38th minute when Kamel Ramdani sent a sublime freekick into the top corner, and it looked as though they were headed for their first win since a 3-2 triumph over Courts Young Lions back on March 26.
However, with five minutes remaining, Lau Meng Meng ran onto a terrific through-ball by Diego Gama and slotted his shot under Aurelien Herisson to earn Hougang a share of the spoils.
