Persipura Jayapura remain the only team yet to taste defeat in the Indonesia Super League this season after beating Persiba Bantul 2-0 in the Eastern zone on Thursday.
The Papua Eagles got off to a dream start at the Mandala Stadium as Ricky Kayame fired them ahead after just six minutes, before Boaz Solossa added a second four minutes later which ultimately proved enough to wrap up the three points.
The result was enough to take Persipura back on top in the East, a point header of Mitra Kukar who now have a game in hand.
Meanwhile in the Western zone, Persija Jakarta went a fourth game without victory after being held to a 1-1 draw by Gresik United at the Tridarma Stadium.
It could even have been a worse result for them as they fell behind in the 36th minute after Reza Mustofa opened the scoring for Gresik, but Ramdani Lestaluhu netted eight minutes after the hour mark to earn them a share of the spoils.
