FELDA United moved three points behind Malaysia Premier League leaders PDRM on Friday after claiming a 5-3 win over SPA FC at the Majlis Perbandaran Selayang Stadium.
FELDA were coasting to victory after Raimi Nor fired them ahead after 13 minutes, before an Edward Junior Wilson double put them three goals up at the break.
Alen Guc did manage to pull one back for SPA seven minutes into the second half, but there appeared to be no apparent danger when Raimi netted his second to restore the hosts’ cushion five minutes later.
But a minute before the hour mark, Hanifuddin Abdul Rahman made it 4-2 and the deficit was reduced to a solitary goal in the 78th minute when A. Puvanarajah found the back of the net for the visitors.
However, SPA were just unable to find the equaliser and the Settlers went on to wrap up the three points when Zah Rahan Krangar scored their fifth in injury-time.
Penang remain in third place and a point behind FELDA after claiming a 3-1 win over DRB-Hicom at the Hang Jebat Stadium.
The visitors edged ahead after 21 minutes thanks to a strike from Rafiuddin Roddin, who struck again a minute after the restart to put them two goals to the good.
Fakhrullah Rosli did manage to pull one back for the hosts three minutes before the hour mark, but Luiz Ricardo struck a third for Penang in the 74th minute to seal the victory.
Meanwhile, Kedah moved into the top four after overtaking Negeri Sembilan following a 2-1 win at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium.
Hijau-Kuning had broken the deadlock after just three minutes thanks to Billy Mehmet’s close-range finish, before Woong Nam-kung doubled their lead in the 31st minute.
The hosts did manage to reduce the deficit thanks to Jean Alexandre’s 80th-minute strike but it proved to be too little too late, as Kedah held on for all three points.
Over at the Bandaraya Stadium, Johor Darul Ta’zim II kept alive their slim hopes of promotion after beating bottom side PBAPP 1-0, courtesy of Azinee Taib’s 30th-minute winner.
Finally, UiTM FC recorded only their fourth win of the campaign after defeating Sabah 3-1 at the Likas Stadium.
In a game that was dominated by the visitors from start to finish, Ahmad Shahir Ismail fired them ahead in the 38th minute before Obi Ikechukwu Charles added a second on the stroke of halftime.
Ikechukwu struck again in the 68th minute to effectively end the contest, although Sabah did managed an injury-time consolation thanks to a Maxsius Musa effort.
