Persela Lamongan moved up to third place in the Eastern zone of the Indonesia Super League on Friday despite a 1-1 draw with Persiba Balikpapan at the Surajaya Stadium.
Persela took the lead two minutes after the half-hour mark when Arif Ariyanto found the back of the net, but M. Kamri equalised on the stroke of halftime to earn the visitors a share of the spoils.
Despite the draw, Joko Tingkir Warriors are now just three points behind leaders Persipura Jayapura, although Mitra Kukar could surge ahead and claim top spot with their game in hand.
Over in the Western zone, Barito Putera snapped a two-game losing streak after recording a 2-0 win over bottom side Persijap Jepara at the Gelora Bumi Kartini.
James Koko Lomell fired Barito ahead in the 23rd minute, and added a second five minutes before the break to wrap up the three points for his side.
And to add more misery on Persijap’s disappointing evening, they finished the game with ten men after goalkeeper Danang Wihatmoko was sent off in injury-time after being shown a straight red.
