Indonesia Super League Western zone leaders Arema Cronus dropped points for the second game running after being held to a 2-2 draw by Persib Bandung on Sunday.
Entering the top-of-the-table clash at the Kanjuhuran Stadium on the back Wednesday’s 2-1 loss to Semen Padang, it looked as though the hosts were headed for another defeat after Ferdinand Sinaga fired Persik ahead on the stroke of halftime before adding a second a minute after the restart.
However, Arema pulled one back through a Gustavo Lopez strike in the 56th minute, and the Brazilian playmaker doubled his tally from the penalty spot 11 minutes later to earn his side a share of the spoils.
While Singo Edan remain top of the table, Persib fell to third after being overtaken by Semen Padang, who cruised to a 3-0 win over ten-man Persik Kediri at the Haji Agus Salim Stadium.
Kabau Sirah had broken the deadlock when Airlangga Sutjipto found the back of the net three minutes before the half-hour mark, before Persik were reduced to ten men after Ramadhan Saputra was issued his marching orders.
Nonetheless, it took Semen Padang until the 79th minute to wrap up the three points when Nur Iskandar struck, and the substitute scored once more seven minutes later to add gloss to the scoreline.
Over in the Eastern zone, PSM Makassar picked up only their third win of the campaign after beating Perseru Serui 2-1 at the Gelora Bung Tomo.
After PSM had edged ahead thanks to Ponaryo Astaman’s 35th-minute penalty, the visitors were dealt a further blow when Bilibig Dian Mahrus was sent off for a second bookable offence four minutes into the second half.
Still, Perseru managed to pull level when Ali Khaddafi equalised two minutes before the hour mark, only for them to find themselves down to nine men when Seme Pattrick was also shown red in the 74th minute.
And four minutes later, the hosts went on to claim maximum points as Ponaryo scored what proved to be the winner after his side were awarded another spot-kick, although their evening was marred a minute later as they finished with ten men after Michael Baird was shown a straight red.
