Persija Jakarta ended a run of four Indonesia Super League games without victory on Monday after beating bottom side Persijap Jepara 4-1 in the Western zone.
Persija took the lead at the Gelora Bung Karno when Victor Pae opened the scoring in the 21st minute, before Ivan Bosnjak made it 2-0 two minutes after the half-hour mark.
Persijap did manage to pull one back when Carlos Sciucatti struck three minutes before the hour mark but new signing Eddie Boakay restored the hosts’ two-goal cushion in the 70th minute, and the scoring was rounded off four minutes after when Pae netted his second of the evening.
Elsewhere in the West, Pelita Bandung Raya moved one spot up to fifth after claiming a 4-1 triumph over Gresik United at the Si Jalak Harupat Stadium.
Although a David Laly brace had handed Pelita a two-goal advantage at halftime, the visitors pulled one back a minute after the hour mark when Brazilian defender Otavio Dutra coolly converted from the spot.
But ten minutes later, Gresik were down to ten men after Gustavo Chena was sent off for a second bookable offence and Nova Arianto scored in the 75th minute to make it 3-1, before Wawan Febrianto netted to cap off a fine display for his side in injury-time.
In the Eastern zone, leaders Persipura Jayapura were held to a 1-1 draw by Persebaya Surabaya at the Gelora Bung Tomo.
Boaz Solossa had fired the visitors in front after 27 minutes, but Emmanuel Kenmogne scored five minutes later to earn Persebaya a share of the spoils.
