Nay Pyi Taw slip up in bid for top spot; Yangon held

Nay Pyi Taw missed the chance to go top of the Myanmar National League on Monday after falling to a 1-0 loss to Magway at the Thuwunna Stadium.

Entering the game two points behind leaders Yadanarbon, Nay Pyi Taw knew a win would be enough for them to claim the status of league leaders, and many had expected them to do just that given they had lost just one game all campaign long.

But following a goalless first half, Myo Zaw Oo popped up in the 52nd minute to net what proved to be the winner and hand Magway maximum points.

Over at the Yangon United Sports Complex, Yangon United were held to a 1-1 draw by Zwekapin United.

It looked as though the Lions were headed for victory when Cesar fired them ahead after just two minutes, before ten minutes from time, Macedonian defender Toni Dzangarovski struck to earn the visitors a share of the spoils.
