Semen Padang close in on Arema; Putra bounce back

Semen Padang moved six points behind Western zone leaders Arema Cronus in the Indonesia Super League on Saturday after claiming a 4-2 win over Persita Tangerang.

It initially looked as though Kabau Sirah were headed for defeat at the Singa Perbangsa Stadium when Zikri Akbar fired Persita ahead after just three minutes, before Jalwandi made it 2-0 in the 12th minute.

But Osas Saha pulled one back for the visitors when he netted from the spot two minutes before the half-hour mark, and the scores were level in the 61st minute when South Korean midfielder Yu Hyun-goo opened his account for the season.

Two minutes from time, Semen Padang edged ahead for the first time in the match when Saha notched his second of the evening, before Nur Iskandar found the back of the net in injury-time to wrap up the three points for his side.

Over in the Eastern zone, Putra Samarinda got back to winning ways following last Tuesday’s defeat to Persiba Balikpapan as they defeated Persiram Raja Ampat 3-0 at the Segiri Stadium.

After both sides had failed in find the breakthrough in the opening 45, it was Putra who drew first blood when Bayu Gatra Sanggiawan scored three minutes into the second half.

Ilija Spasojevic then strengthened the hosts’ grip on the contest with a second in the 70th minute, before the contest was ended in the first minute of injury-time after Joko Sasongko netted to make it 3-0.
