Yadanarbon moved three points clear at the top of the Myanmar National League on Saturday after claiming a 2-0 win over Zeyar Shwe Myay at the Bahtoo Stadium.
Edison Fonseca got them off to a dream start as he fired them ahead after just two minutes with his 15th goal of the campaign, before Dway Ko Ko Chit added a second in the 70th minute to wrap up the three points.
The result allowed them to extend their lead at the summit after Nay Pyi Taw fell to a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Yangon United at the Yangon United Sports Complex.
Although the hosts had taken the lead in the 35th minute courtesy of a penalty from Cesar, Nay Pyi Taw appeared to have been handed a real boost when their opponents had Khin Maung Lwin sent off just before halftime.
Still, the visitors were unable to make the most of their numerical advantage and the Lions doubled their lead five minutes after the hour mark when Cesar grabbed his second of the afternoon.
Two minutes later, the contest was effectively ended when Emerson Luiz Tito made it 3-0, before Cesar completed his hat-trick nine minutes from time to cap off a fine display from him and his side.
Nay Pyi Taw’s defeat also allowed Magway to overtake them in second place following a 2-1 triumph over Southern Myanmar at the Thuwunna Stadium.
After Soe Min Naing had fired Magway in front nine minutes before the half-hour mark, Emmanuel Medengue struck in the 53rd minute to double their advantage.
Southern Myanmar managed to pull one back two minutes from time when Japanese midfielder Musashi Okuyama opened his account for the club, but it proved to be too little too late as their opponents held out for the win.
Over at the Bogyoke Aung San Stadium, bottom side GFA avoided defeat for only the second time this season after holding Ayeyawady United to a 2-2 draw.
Naing Naing Lin broke the deadlock for GFA in the 24th minute, but Sasa Rankovic equalised for the designated visitors 11 minutes.
Rankovic then struck again ten minutes into the second half to put Ayeyawady ahead but in the 73rd minute, Yudai scored an equaliser to earn GFA a share of the spoils.
In Sunday’s action, Kanbawza made it four wins in a row after defeating Chin United 3-1 at the Thuwunna Stadium.
KBZ got off to a dream start when Soe Min Oo fired them ahead in the opening minute, but Keith Murtu Nah equalised for Chin six minutes after the half-hour mark.
But three minutes before the break, Min Min Tun found the back of the net to restore Kanbawza’s lead, and they wrapped up the win in injury-time after Mai Aih Naing notched his first goal of the season.
Finally, Thein Zaw netted the only goal of the game in the 65th minute to hand Manaw Myay a 1-0 win over Zwekapin United at the Bogyoke Aung San Stadium.
