FELDA slip up in promotion chase after JDT II draw

FELDA United’s promotion bid in the Malaysia Premier League took a minor blip on Tuesday as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Johor Darul Ta’zim II.

Following a goalless first half at the Pasir Gudang Corporation Stadium, it was JDT II who drew first blood when Argentine midfielder Nicolas Delmonte fired them ahead in the 67th minute.

FELDA did manage to pull level 12 minutes from time when Edward Junior Wilson fired home his 16th goal of the campaign from the penalty spot, but they were unable to find a winner and ultimately had to settle for a share of the spoils.

The result means Settlers remain in third place and a point behind Penang, who currently occupy the second and final promotion spot, with just four games to go in the campaign.

Meanwhile, Perlis are one defeat away from relegation after falling to a 2-0 loss to UiTM FC at the UiTM Stadium.

Obi Ikechukwu Charles broke the deadlock for UiTM when he netted on the stroke of halftime, before Aiman Syazwan added a second to wrap up the three points six minutes after the hour mark.
