Global’s United Football League title celebrations continued on Tuesday as they claimed a 3-0 win over arch-rivals Kaya at the Emperador Stadium.
Having wrapped up the title last Thursday with three games to spare following a 7-2 win over Pachanga Diliman, Leigh Manson’s charges showed they were in no mood to let up as they followed that up by beating Team Socceroo 7-0 at the weekend.
And on Tuesday, they continued to march on by making it seven straight wins after beating their fierce rivals.
Mark Hartmann got them on their way after 17 minutes when he fired home a loose ball after Delon Patrick Yao’s initial header had been blocked, before Jason De Jong made it 2-0 in the 56th minute; latching onto Napoleon Bustillo’s through-ball and slotting past Nick O’Donnell.
Eight minutes from time, the win was secured after De Jong returned the favour as he picked out Bustillo, who sent a long-range strike into the top corner to cap off an impressive display from Global.
In Tuesday’s earlier kickoff, Loyola Meralco Sparks moved level on points with Kaya after cruising to a 5-0 win over already-relegated Pasargad.
Vincent Santos’ charges edged ahead in the 25th minute when Matthew Hartmann found the bottom corner with a low drive, before they doubled their lead through a Graham Caygill strike four minutes into the second half.
The result was then put beyond doubt in the 82nd minute when James Younghusband added a third, and Freddy Gonzalez got in on the act four minutes from time when he met Arnel Amita’s cross with a diving header into the back of the net.
A minute later, Hartmann rounded off the scoring for the Sparks with his second of the evening, before more misery was piled on Pasargad as they finished the game with ten men after Promise Jolomi was sent off in injury-time for a second bookable offence.
