Tampines Rovers dropped more points in their bid to catch S.League leaders DPMM FC on Thursday after being held to a 1-1 draw by high-flying Hougang United.
The Stags had taken the lead at the Clementi Stadium when Ismadi Mukhtar broke free down the right before floating a good cross onto the head of Miljan Mrdakovic, who made no mistake in glancing the ball into the bottom corner.
But three minutes after the hour mark, Geison Moura got enough of a touch onto Lau Meng Meng’s long ball to guide it past Justin Pasfield, earning Hougang a share of the spoils in the process.
Over at the Bedok Stadium, Geylang International fell to a shock 3-2 defeat at the hands of bottom side Harimau Muda.
The Malaysian outfit were initially cruising to victory after Shahrul Igwan Samsudin fired them ahead in the 37th minute, before Syawal Nordin doubled their lead three minutes later.
But the hosts pulled one back in the 82nd minute through a Leonel Felice penalty, after Yuki Ichikawa had been dragged down inside the box.
And five minutes from time, it looked as though Geylang had done enough for a point after pulling level; Kento Fukuda meeting a corner with a thumping header into the back of the net.
However, deep into injury-time, substitute Ramzi Sufian emerged as the hero for Harimau Muda as he scored the winner to hand them only their third victory of the campaign.
