Johor Darul Ta’zim stretched their lead at the top of the Malaysia Super League to four points on Friday after claiming an impressive 3-0 win over Kelantan.
Harimau Selatan took the lead at the Larkin Stadium four minutes before the half-hour mark when Amirulhadi Zainal found the back of the net, before Nazrin Nawi doubled their advantage in the 54th minute.
And two minutes from time, Luciano Figueroa got in on the act – netting his 11th goal of the campaign – to wrap up the three points for the hosts.
The result means Darul Ta’zim could be crowned champions as early as on Saturday, should second-placed Selangor fail to beat Sarawak in their penultimate match of the campaign.
Over at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium, Terengganu threw away a lead for the third game running as they were held to a 1-1 draw by ATM.
Following a goalless first half, it looked as though the Turtles were on track to claiming the win when Norfarhan Muhammad fired them ahead in the 59th minute.
However, just four minutes later, Fabrice Noel equalised to earn the Armed Forces a share of the spoils and bring them one step closer to avoiding relegation.
