Tampines back up to second; Woodlands deny Home

Tampines Rovers reclaimed second spot in the S.League on Tuesday evening after claiming a 2-0 win over Balestier Khalsa at the Clementi Stadium.

The Stags took the lead after 11 minutes when Kunihiro Yamashita headed home a cross from Shahdan Sulaiman, before Jozef Kaplan added a second with a simple finish in the 70th minute to wrap up the three points.

The victory allowed Tampines to climb two spots back up to second, and they remain three points behind leaders DPMM FC.

In Tuesday’s other game, Woodlands Wellington went a second game unbeaten under new coach Salim Moin after playing out a 0-0 draw with Home United at the Bishan Stadium.

Although they entered the clash as underdogs, the Rams actually enjoyed the better of the proceedings and could have went on to claim maximum points but were ultimately let down by some poor finishing from forwards Moon Soon-ho and Chang Jo-yoon.
