Buriram United have one foot in the final of the Thai League Cup after claiming a 1-0 win over Ratchaburi in the first leg of their semi-final tie.
The only goal of the game at the New I-Mobile Stadium came in the 19th minute, when Venezuela centre-back Andres Tunez popped up at the other end to net with a header.
Any hopes Ratchaburi had of a late comeback were effectively ended when they were reduced to ten men seven minutes from time, although they remain very much in the contest with the second leg to be played in a fortnight.
In Wednesday’s other last-four clash, ten-man BEC Tero Sasana overcame a numerical deficit to defeat Nakhon Ratchasima 1-0 at the 72-years Anniversary Stadium.
Following a goalless first half, the Fire Dragons were dealt a real blow when Peerapat Notechaiya was sent off in the 76th minute for slapping an opponent.
However, with five minutes left on the clock, Gilbert Koomson struck a winner to hand BEC Tero the slimmest of leads on aggregate.
