Persebaya Surabaya claimed top spot in the Eastern zone of the Indonesia Super League on Tuesday after recording a 3-0 win over Persela Lamongan at the Gelora Bung Tomo.
Emmanuel Kenmogne was the star of the show for the hosts as he fired them ahead in the 38th minute, before doubling his and his side’s tally three minutes later.
And eight minutes after the hour mark, the Cameroonian completed his hat-trick to wrap up the three points for Maung Bandung and inflict a sixth defeat of the season on Persela.
The victory allowed Persebaya to overtake previous leaders Persipura Jayapura and move a point clear at the top, an impressive achievement considering a three-point penalty was imposed on them earlier in the year.
Over in the Western zone, Persib Bandung climbed into third spot after cruising to a 5-0 rout of bottom side Persijap Jepara at the Si Jalak Harupat Stadium.
The hosts took the lead after 17 minutes when Muhammad Ridwan broke free inside the box and played in a low cross that Evaldo Silva could only stab into the back of his own net.
And right before halftime, their lead was doubled when Tony Sucipto’s left-wing cross was deflected by Fathul Manan into the path of Djibril Coulibaly, who made no mistake in heading home at the back post.
Vladimir Vujovic then got in on the act ten minutes into the second half when he scored with a towering header from inside the box, and made it 4-0 in the 78th minute when he sent Dedi Haryanto the wrong way from the spot after his side had been awarded a penalty.
Three minutes from time, the thrashing was completed as Ridwan emerged as the architect once more; splitting the opposition defence with an incisive through-ball for Atep Rizal to run onto and coolly slot his shot into the bottom corner.
