Warriors FC’s S.League title bid remains very much alive after they recorded a 4-1 win over Courts Young Lions on Wednesday.
It was the Young Lions who got off to a dream start at the Choa Chu Kang Stadium; Sahil Suhaimi breaking free before laying the ball off for Jordan Webb to bury into the bottom corner.
But in the 16th minute, the hosts pulled level when Suria Prakash combined well with Zulfadli Zainal Abidin down the left before cutting the ball back to Nicolas Velez, who made no mistake with the finish.
Eight minutes later, Velez netted his second of the evening with a low shot that caught Syazwan Buhari out of position, before Hafiz Rahim made it 3-1 three minutes before the break when he emphatically fired home a loose ball.
And in the 70th minute, the Warriors went on to wrap up the three points after Suria beat Amirul Adli and Syazwan before playing a neat pass to Velez, who completed his hat-trick to cap off an impressive display from his side.
The win means Alex Weaver’s charges are tentatively up to third on the table and just two points behind leaders DPMM FC.
