Pelita Bandung Raya extended their unbeaten run in the Indonesia Super League to three games after beating Persijap Jepara 3-0 in the Western zone on Saturday.
Pelita took the lead at the Si Jalak Harupat Stadium three minutes before halftime thanks to a close-range finish from Bambang Pamungkas, who then won a penalty in the 74th minute after being tugged down inside the box by Evaldo Silva – Agus Indra Kurniawan stepping up and converting from 12 yards.
The hosts were then reduced to ten men two minutes from the end when Wildansyah was sent off, but it mattered little as they went on to wrap up the three points in injury-time after Bambang broke free inside the box and rifled a shot past Danang Wihatmoko.
Elsewhere, Gresik United move one spot up to eighth on the table after recording a 3-1 win over struggling Persita Tangerang at the Tridarma Stadium.
Following a goalless first half, Lan Bastian opened the scoring for the hosts with a header from a couple of yards out in the 56th minute, but Sirvi Arfani equalised for Persita on the hour mark when he latched onto a flick-on header and lifted his shot over the onrushing keeper.
However, Gresik reclaimed the lead in the 72nd minute when Pedro Velazquez nodded home at the back post after being left completely unmarked, and they went on to seal the win four minutes from time when Otavio Dutra added a third from the spot after Ganjar Mukti had committed a foul inside the area.
Over in the Eastern zone, PSM Makassar continued their impressive rise as they moved into fourth spot with a 3-1 triumph over Persela Lamongan at the Gelora Bung Tomo.
Muhammad Rachmat fired PSM ahead in the 25th minute when he beat his man on the edge of the box with a clever turn, before firing a terrific shot into the back of the net.
Just four minutes later, it was 2-0 when Kurniawan Karman received possession just inside the area and slotted past Roni Tri Pasnanto into the bottom corner.
And the contest was effectively over three minutes before the hour mark when Rachmat grabbed his second of the match; breaking free after skipping inside Roman Golian and bending a sublime effort into the top corner.
Nonetheless, Persela did manage a consolation in the 71st minute when Burhanudin Nihe netted on the rebound after Srdan Lopicic’s freekick had been saved by Markus Haris Maulana.
