Warriors leave it late to force derby draw at Home

Warriors FC struck a 94th-minute equaliser to force a 2-2 draw against Uniform derby rivals Home United in the S.League on Sunday evening.

It had been the Warriors that got off to a dream start at the Bishan Stadium when they took the lead after just four minutes; Hafiz Rahim slipped through by Miroslav Pejic and lashing a powerful shot past Shahril Jantan.

However, Home pulled level in the 47th minute when Fazli Ayob slotted home from close range, after Bruno Castanheira’s initial effort had deflected off Fazrul Nawaz and fell into the path of the 24-year-old.

The Protectors then took the lead three minutes later when Fazrul netted for the second time in two games after meeting a corner from Sirina Camara and planting a header past Hassan Sunny.

But in the fourth minute of injury-time, Nicolas Velez popped up to equalise for the visitors and earn them a share of the spoils.

The result means both sides remain level on 38 points with each other and overtook Tampines Rovers on goal difference, although the Stags have a game in hand and can reclaim second spot if they avoid defeat against Albirex Niigata (S) on Monday.

Home United: Shahril Jantan, Juma’at Jantan (Yasir Hanapi 46’), Kwon Da-kyung, Song In-young, Sirina Camara (Izzdin Shafiq 88’), Noh Rahman, Lee Kwan-woo, Fazli Ayob, Masrezwan Masturi, Bruno Castanheira, Fazrul Nawaz (Indra Sahdan Daud 81’).
