Balestier Khalsa kept alive their hopes of a top-half finish in the S.League after coming from behind to beat Hougang United 4-1 on Wednesday.
It was the Cheetahs who took the lead at the Hougang Stadium on the stroke of halftime, when Diego Gama notched his tenth goal of the campaign by converting from the penalty spot.
However, Balestier responded five minutes after the break when Park Kang-jin found the back of the net, and they soon found themselves in front in the 63rd minute through a strike from Poh Yi Feng.
The Tigers then extended their lead six minutes later when Goran Ljubojevic got in on the act, before the Croat struck once more 11 minutes from time to wrap up the three points for the hosts.
The result means Marko Kraljevic’s charges still have a chance of pipping Hougang to sixth spot by the end of the second round due to the superior goal difference they currently have, although they will need to beat Harimau Muda and hope their rivals lose their game against the same opponents.
