Persebaya Surabaya moved three points clear at the top of the Eastern zone in the Indonesia Super League on Friday after beating Persepam Madura United 3-1.
An Emmanuel Kenmogne penalty handed the hosts a 22nd-minute lead at the Gelora Bung Tomo, although Paraguayan midfielder Diego Fretes equalised for the Persepam on the half-hour mark.
Nonetheless, the Green Crocodiles reclaimed the lead in the 79th minute through a strike from Greg Nwokolo, who scored again three minutes from time to wrap up the three points for his side.
The win allowed Persebaya to extend their lead at the top to three points, after second-placed Persipura Jayapura were held to a 1-1 draw against Mitra Kukar at the Mandala Stadium.
Imanuel Wanggai had handed Persipura the lead in the 31st minute when he scored from the spot, although Erick Weeks Lewis struck six minutes later to earn the visitors a share of the spoils.
In Thursday’s only game, bottom side Persijap Jepara’s poor run in the Western zone continued as they played out a 0-0 draw with Gresik United.
