Persib Bandung remain unbeaten in the second phase of the Indonesia Super League campaign after a 1-1 draw against Persebaya Surabaya in Group B on Tuesday.
Things could have been even better for Maung Bandung at the Gelora Bung Tomo after they took the lead in the 12th minute when Makan Konate did well to create a yard of space for himself on the edge of the box, before curling a left-footed shot past a hapless Yandri Pitoy into the far corner.
But with 14 minutes remaining, a dreadful gaffe by Supardi Nasir saw him inadvertently deflect a harmless flick-on header into the back of his own net, which was enough to earn Persebaya a share of the spoils.
Although the result meant Persib’s perfect start to the second phase has come to an end, they remain top of Group B on seven points.
Meanwhile, Mitra Kukar overtook Persebaya and climbed into second place following a 1-0 win over Pelita Bandung Raya at the Aji Imbut Stadium – their first of the campaign.
Following a goalless first half, Erick Weeks Lewis fired the hosts ahead in the 46th minute, which proved enough for the three points as their opponents were just unable to find an equaliser.
