Ceres returned to United Football League action in winning fashion on Sunday following a month’s absence after recording a 3-0 victory over Pachanga Diliman.
Having opened their campaign on February 7 with a 2-1 triumph over Manila Jeepney, Ceres were then absent from domestic action as they focused their attention on the 2015 AFC Cup qualifiers, which they ultimately came up short in following defeat to Maldives’ Maziya.
However, they showed no signs of rustiness at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on Sunday and took the lead in the 22nd minute; Philippines international Patrick Reichelt meeting Orman Okunaiya’s set-piece delivery and emphatically nodding into the back of the net.
Ceres then doubled their lead in the 78th minute through Manny Ott’s thumping header, before Angelo Marasigan wrapped up the three points right at the death when he scored on the rebound, after Reichelt’s initial effort had been saved by Steve Yambou-Weladji.
The win takes Ceres up to fifth on the table and seven points behind leaders Global, although they do have three games in hand.
