Rangel on target again as Selangor advance to last-16

Brazilian striker Paulo Rangel was on target for the second game running as Selangor claimed a 2-0 win over Harimau Muda C in the first round of the 2014 Malaysia Cup.

Rangel, who signed for the Red Giants after a successful spell with Perak last season, had opened his account for his new club at the weekend with two goals against T-Team.

And just like in that game, it was the Brazilian who again found the breakthrough after his side failed to break down their opponents in the first half, opening the scoring eight minutes after the break.

16 minutes from time, Rangel’s compatriot and fellow new signing Juninho added a second to seal the victory and send Selangor into the Round of 16.

Standing between them and a place in the quarter-finals are Sarawak, who needed extra-time to beat Penang 2-1 on Tuesday.
